Short Bio
Shufeng Ma is an associate professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at the East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai, China. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the United States. Her research centers on children’s cognitive, social and language development in classroom contexts, specifically as children participate in collaborative group or learn through interactive instructional methods. Her work mainly focuses on the design and testing of classroom intervention, the assessment of learning processes and productive learning outcomes, and the exploration of factors that may influence children’s social, cognitive, and language development. Recently, she has been concentrating on creating collaborative learning environments that incorporate extended reality and generative artificial intelligence specifically for primary school students. The goal of her research is to develop effective educational interventions that enhance classroom learning experiences and help students build advanced academic skills, such as critical thinking, causal reasoning, and creative problem-solving, as well as the ability to interact with innovative technologies.
