Short Bio

Prof. Dinky, Lau Kit Ling is a full Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She also served as the Associate Dean (Professional Programmes) of the Faculty of Education at the University. She has over twenty years’ experiences in Chinese language teaching and research. Her research interests include Chinese reading instruction, reading motivation, strategy instruction, self-regulated learning, classical Chinese reading, and technology enhanced language learning. Her recent research projects include “Enhancing students’ classical Chinese reading comprehension and motivation through self-regulated learning-based instruction: A longitudinal and holistic design” (funded by the General Research Fund, the Hong Kong Research Grant Council), “Hong Kong students’ acceptance of using flipped classroom in Chinese language subject and influencing factors” (funded by the Research and Development Grant, the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research), “The support programme on fostering communities of practice to enhance small class teaching” and “Provision of Services for the Programme for International Student Assessment 2021 in Hong Kong” funded by Hong Kong Education Bureau. Her research papers are published in various high-impact international journals, such as Reading and Writing, Journal of Research in Reading, Journal of Psycholinguistic Research, International Journal of Educational Research, Education and Information Technologies, Interactive Learning Environments, and Teaching and Teacher Education.
