STEM in Education Conferences: History
The First International STEM in Education conference was held at QUT in 2010. This aroused a lot of international interest culminating in the formation of a worldwide consortia of universities namely: Beijing Normal University, University of British Columbia and QUT. This conference was then very successfully hosted biennially by member universities in their home country. With increasing interest in the STEM in Education agenda, by 2025 this group had expanded to 9 universities to include the following: University of British Columbia, Canada; University of Calgary, Canada; Northeast Normal University, China; Southwest University, China; University of Sydney, Australia; Queensland University of Technology, Australia; Beijing Normal University, China; Shanghai Normal University China; and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China.
In the last 15 years, the International STEM in Education conference has provided an excellent opportunity for educators and researchers from schools, universities, colleges, businesses, industries and other private and public agencies to share and discuss their innovative practices and research initiatives that may advance STEM education.

The 8th International STEM in Education Conference,hosted by the University of Calgary’s Werklund School of Education, Canada.
SFEE 2025
The 4th Shanghai Forum for Education Excellence (SFEE-4) and the 10th International Conference on World-Class Universities (WCU-10) were be jointly held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University from November 15th to 16th, 2025. The theme of the joint conference is “World-Class Universities: Promoting Global Common Good (GCG).”
SFEE 2024
The theme for SFEE 2024 is “Excellence and Innovation: The Challenge for Teacher Education in Digital Time”. The conference will focus on the theoretical, practical, and political issues of discipline-specific teaching and learning, including language, arts, social studies, math and science education. Furthermore, the conference will explore the challenges encountered in teacher education and classroom innovation, and discuss strategies for transforming classroom instruction to better meet the evolving needs of students and society.
SFEE 2023
The theme for SFEE 2023 is "The Next Chapter for Educational and Psychological Research". This year's conference will concentrate on research topics including artificial intelligence in education, educational data mining, student mental health and development, and prevention and intervention of mental illness. More specifically, it will focus on the development and application of education and psychology research from the interdisciplinary perspective, discuss new measures and solutions to improve students' mental health in the new era and advance methods of educational research leveraging the big data.
SFEE 2022

The theme of SFEE 2022 is "Futures of Education in the Post-Pandemic Era", which explores the ways of cultivating creative K12 teachers and students for the 21st Century. Well-known scholars domestically and internationally will be invited to share their expertise on future campus construction, interdisciplinary curriculum design, future teacher development, future student development, emerging technologies, and instruction. Through this conference, we hope to explore the feasible methods, models, and paths of future education, boost excellent educational innovations, and enhance the mechanism of cultivating innovative talents. To expect to advance local education towards excellence and propose new approaches to educational reform, SFEE 2022 is devoted to developing open, inclusive, and resilient education, sharing a bright vision of future education featuring intelligence, personalization, and fairness.
