Call for papers —— STEM 2026
We invite you to submit a proposal to present at the 9th International STEM in Education Conference – STEM Education for Sustainable Development, to be held in Shanghai, China, November 5 - 8. The conference will focus on how Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education contributes to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across formal and informal contexts, and its implications for academia, industry, policy, and society. STEM2026 will bring together K–12 and higher education educators, researchers, students, and policymakers, as well as leaders from business, industry, non-profit, and public sectors. It offers a platform to share innovative research, pedagogical practices, and collaborations that strengthen the role of STEM in building a sustainable and equitable future.
Conference Theme: STEM Education and Educational Excellence for Sustainable Futures.

**Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings. Authors of selected outstanding English papers will also be invited to submit an extended version of thier papers for a special issue of a SSIE indexed journal, International journal of Engineering Education.

Submission Requirements
There are only four types of accepted submissions in the Limited Call for Proposals:
- Full paper
- Short paper
- Poster
- Showcase or workshop
- WRO Future Innovators
Please use the template (.docx file) provided. Chinese paper must include English title, abstract, and keywords.
1. Full paper (Final paper template)
Full papers report completed or near-completed research with a strong theoretical and methodological foundation.
- Length: Maximum 8 pages, including tables and figures; references must fit within the page limit
- Presentation Time: Up to 20 minutes, including 5 minutes for Q&A
Required Sections:
- Title (no more than 20 words)
- Author(s) and Institutional Affiliation(s)
- Keywords
- Abstract (maximum 250 words)
- Goals and Objectives
- Theoretical Framework
- Methodology
- Results and Discussion
- If results are pending, this must be clearly stated

2. Short paper (Final paper template)
Short papers present work-in-progress, pilot studies, innovative ideas, or preliminary findings.
- Length: Maximum 4 pages, including tables, figures, and references
- Presentation Format: Oral or digital presentation (time allocation to be announced)
Required Sections:
- Title (no more than 20 words)
- Author(s) and Institutional Affiliation(s)
- Keywords
- Abstract (maximum 250 words)
- Purpose and Research Questions or Focus
- Brief Theoretical or Conceptual Background

3. Poster (Final poster template)
Poster submissions provide a concise visual presentation of research, practice, or innovative ideas.
- Length: Maximum 2 pages, excluding an additional single page for references if required
- Format: Digitally presented (further technical details will be announced)
- Author Presence: Authors must be available during the designated poster session
Required Sections:
- Title (no more than 20 words)
- Author(s) and Institutional Affiliation(s)
- Keywords
- Abstract (maximum 250 words)
- Key ideas, methods, and/or findings
- References (may be included on an additional single page)
4. Workshop or showcases (Workshop template)
Workshops or Showcases propose highly interactive, hands-on sessions (typically 60–90 minutes) designed to share practical methods, innovative tools, curriculum models, or instructional strategies.
- Length: Maximum 1 pages
- Session Type: Interactive workshop or practice-oriented showcase
The proposal must clearly include:
- Title (no more than 20 words)
- Presenter(s) and Institutional Affiliation(s)
- Keywords
- Abstract (maximum 250 words)
- Learning Objectives
- Target Audience
- Detailed Activity Outline (including participant engagement strategies)
